We love Vegas! I visited the city for the first time when I was 18 years old. Pretty dull as you’re not allowed to a lot in the USA at that age. No alcohol and no gambling. Last summer we were there for the fifth time and it was the second time we visited Last Vegas with kids.
Most people don’t see Vegas as a city for kids. It’s Sin City, surely kids have no business there? But I could not disagree more! There are loads of things to do in Las Vegas with kids, just take a look at this top 10.
Top 10 Las Vegas with kids
1# Shark Reef Mandalay Bay
Even in the middle of the desert of Nevada you can see sharks and crocodiles. Where? In Las Vegas of course. Mandalay Bay has a large aquarium.
Price: from $25
2# Mirage’s Volcano
Floris and Lotte were impressed and a little scared at the same time: Mirage’s fire spitting volcano. Expect big flames and uplifting music.
Price: free
3# Rainforest Cafe
Floris and Lotte loved it here! You can find the Rainforest Cafe on the Strip. As soon as you walk in you’ll find yourself in the middle of the jungle. The monkeys, elephants and thunder will most certainly amaze your kids.
Price: depends on what you eat 😉
4# Lazy River Mandalay Bay
During one of our visits to Las Vegas with kids we slept in the Mandalay Bay. This hotel has an enormous swimming pool “landscape”, with a beach, wave pool and… a lovely lazy river. Be sure to buy your kids a float on the Strip, this will be a lot cheaper than in the hotel and your kids will enjoy bobbing along on the river.
Price: free when you stay at the Mandalay Bay

5# Fly over Fremont Street
Fremont Street is the old Las Vegas which you will find downtown. The street is especially worth a visit in the dark so you can enjoy the beautiful light show on the roof that stretches over the entire street. Our kids were amazed by the street performers and were rather surprised by all the people that where “flying” across the street: the Slotzilla Zipline. For older kids (from ages 13 and up) who aren’t afraid of heights this is a super cool experience. Starting from a huge “fruit machine” you fly on a zipline all the way across Fremont Street, what a view!
Price: from $25

6# Sailing a boat in The Venetian
When you walk onto the square in front of the Venetian Hotel, you think you’re in Venice straight away. In the mall next to the hotel you can walk through Italian streets and even take a trip with the kids in one of the gondolas on the canals.
Price: 29$ pp, kids younger than age 2 are free
7# Gaze at the fountains of the Bellagio
In front of the Bellagio hotel you’ll find the famous fountains. Starting from 11 o’clock, you can admire the “show” accompanied by music and slightly “dancing” fountains. Floris and Lotte each watched in absolute silence, and that says a lot ;).
Price: free
8# Have a picture taken with Mickey, Elsa or Batman
On every street corner you will find a costumed street performer. For a few dollars you can have your picture taken. Flo had his picture taken with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and he still talks about it till this day.
Price: about 5$
9# Helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon
This is certainly not one of the cheaper outings but if you are willing and able to pay for this, it’s one of the most amazing things you’ll ever experience! We took a helicopter tour through the Grand Canyon. First we flew over the Hoover Dam after which we flew into the Grand Canyon. You follow the Colorado River and eventually you literally fly through two huge mountains, breath-taking! Floris was in awe, especially when he sat in the front with an amazing view. Lotte slept through the whole flight.
Price: from 375$ pp
10# Stratosphere for dare devils
At the beginning of the Strip you’ll find the Stratosphere. This hotel has a 350 meter high tower. And at the top you will find all kinds of exciting attractions. This is for the older kids though. What do you think of The Bigshot, Insanity, X-Scream or Skyjump? The names say it all… These attractions are for cool kids who enjoy height and speed.
Price: from 25$
11# The Park Vegas
Do you know The Park Vegas? Its a new outdoor entertainment district, an expansive open-air space right on the strip. A place where you can eat, drink, enjoy culture and entertainment. A perfect spot to visit with the kids.
