I love travelling, preferably as often and as far as possible! I thought I wasn’t really a “holiday park person”, but the opposite turns out to be the case. Perhaps not for 3 weeks in the summer holidays, but I can enjoy myself a weekend away in a bungalow park and so do the kids of course! Because we’ve visited quite a few holiday parks in recent years, I have put all the gems for you together in this article, our favorite family friendly holiday parks in the Netherlands in a row!
Family friendly holiday parks in the Netherlands
When I drive up the terrain of Safari Resort de Beekse Bergen I think: well that looks pretty good. And nothing could be closer to the truth: it’s spacious and very neatly laid out. The bungalows are scattered over the park in the forest, with enough privacy for everyone. We stay in a 6-person savanna lodge and that’s really great fun! Aside from the fact that the lodge is fully equipped (even a lovely sauna and a nice terrace with roof), the view is phenomenal!
We are on the savannah where the camels, rhinos and ostriches live. Imagine sitting on the couch with your cup of tea, or your glass of wine when it’s a bit later in the day, while right in front of your nose you see the camels and rhinos passing by. In a word: phenomenal! It really feels like I’m on the African savannah.
The Safari Resort has a nice restaurant too with bowling alleys, a lovely swimming pool, indoor playground and special activities for the children. For example, our kids go along with the animal caretakers to feed the giraffes in the evening. They still talk about it. In short, this accommodation surely deserves a place in this list of holiday friendly holiday parks in the Netherlands!
This park is also quite new. We stay with my sister and her family, grandpa and grandma in a 10-person villa. The park is spacious, there is plenty of water and you get the true beach feeling at the park itself by the materials and plants used. If you want to “go all out” then you can choose a special children’s villa (6-person) with a special children’s room with high sleeper and games table.
At the park you will find all kinds of facilities for kids of course: an indoor swimming pool, an indoor playground, an outdoor playground and an entertainment program with fun activities for the kids. For example, Floris and Lotte made a birdhouse and a bug hotel.
And of course, the Beach Resort Ouddorp Duin is at just a walking distance from the beach.
3# Centerparcs Vakantiepark Port Zelande, Ouddorp
Another holiday park with lots of facilities for kids! We spent a weekend in a safari tent, which was an incredible hit with the kids.
The safari tent is located on the camping part of the park and is equipped with every luxury: a lovely covered porch, sitting area, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet, bedroom with double bed and for the kids a bedstead which of course also functions as a cabin, shop, boat and even as a rocket.
In front of the safari tent there is a lot of space to run around, play soccer and even basketball. But of course a Center Parcs park offers a lot more entertainment. We have to take the children to the subtropical swimming paradise of course and we also rent a children’s 4×4 jeep. This small electric jeep can be driven by the children themselves. While driving they explore the harbour at the holiday park while we walk behind the mini jeep. The biggest wish of the kids is now a children’s jeep for home. If the weather is a bit worse, you can go to a large indoor “entertainment hall” with a bowling alley.
We also choose not to cook for 1 evening and we eat at the park in tropical atmospheres between the flamingos and other tropical birds.
If you like large parks with all the facilities you could wish for, then this park is definitely recommended!
Another gem, a park that absolutely should be included on this list of our favourite family friendly holiday parks in the Netherlands: Bosrijk!
Now I might be a bit prejudiced, because I’ve been a huge Efteling fan from an early age, but I think it has to do with those Brabant roots.
We sleep in Bosrijk in an 8-person luxury boshuys. This villa also has a bedroom with a double bed and a private bathroom downstairs. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms with 1 bathroom. The living room has a lovely couch and a fully equipped kitchen.
The “fairytale feeling” begins when you walk into the park. In the middle of the large pond you’ll find the castle of Klaas Vaak (the Sandman). Especially in the evening it is really beautiful. The park has playgrounds, a restaurant focused on kids and a very nice pool, if you still have energy after a day at Efteling. In the evening Klaas Vaak often comes to read a story for the kids to make sure they can sleep well afterwards. Our kids like this so much that they are prepared to go to bed extra early.
And… not to forget, if you spend the night at Bosrijk, you have unlimited access to the Efteling!
If you’re really looking for an accommodation IN the dunes, then Qurios Bloemendaal is definitely for you!
The lodges are all at ground level and are scattered throughout the dunes. A 4-person lodge has two bedrooms, a lovely bright living/dining area with fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful terrace surrounded by dune sand. Kids can play in the sitting area right next to the lodge.
The holiday park also has a playground and a brasserie where you can enjoy lunch and dinner. And best of all: if you cross the street, you are on the beach of Bloemendaal aan Zee!
