This year could be the year in which millions of Dutch people choose to have a holiday in their own country. And let’s be honest, our little frog country has enough to offer! To make it as much fun as possible for the kids I made a nice list of family friendly hotels in the Netherlands.
Fmily friendly hotels in the Netherlands
Maybe it’s because I’m a proud Brabander or maybe it’s because I went to the Efteling at least once a year. But I have to say, I’m an Efteling fan!
Spending a few nights at the Efteling Hotel is a dream come true for many a child. You can choose special themed rooms, play in the indoor playground, listen to a story by the Sandman before bedtime, meet one of your favorite residents from the Fairytale Forest and… of course, enjoy the amusement park to the fullest! What are you waiting for?!
Do you want to combine relaxation with being active? Then this is the ideal hotel for you! HUP is located in Mierlo, close to the shopping city of Eindhoven and close to the Strabrechtse Heide where you can enjoy walking and cycling. The hotel has all the facilities you can think of and more… How about a spa with swimming pool, an indoor football field, bowling alleys, a large gym and so on.
You can choose a family room with a double bed and bunk beds for the kids and if you’re lucky you’ll find a basketball net in your room so the kids can play even there.
3# Little Beach House, Zandvoort
Of course our own studio should not be missing from this list! In beautiful Zandvoort, 500 meters from the sea and 50 meters from the dunes, you will find the Little Beach House in our backyard, as a beach house should be: light and cozy.
The studio is suitable for 1 adult with a child or for 2 adults with a baby, in which case we place a Deryan in the room. The bed is lovely, the Nespresso coffee tastes good, you can borrow a surfboard and after a day at the beach and sand you can relax under the rain shower. You also have your own piece of terrace in the sun and your child can have fun on the trampoline.
Want to spend the night in the Middle Ages?! It’s possible! In a room of a cobbler, a weaver or a carpenter in the medieval B&B near the Archeon.
During the day you can visit the park. Archeon lets you experience the history of the Netherlands. You will experience the daily life of the past and you can take part of lots of of activities.
Lying in bed and hearing the waves breaking on the beach, waking up to the screams of the seagulls, walking outside and standing with your feet directly in the sand… It’s possible! In Katwijk, in a beach house. For real, a little house, right on the beach.
The houses are fully equipped. And you can even rent a six-person cottage. Ideal for large families or a holiday with grandparents.
They used to be old cow stables, now their hip lodges: Heerman Lodges. Between the greenery, overlooking the meadows.
The lodges are all very nicely furnished and luxuriously equipped. For the children there is plenty of space to run around in the open air and you can do all kinds of fun activities in the area. In the evening the children will sleep in their bedstead.
This huge hotel offers all the facilities you are looking for: spacious rooms and even apartments, a swimming pool, cinema and if you look closely you can even see Schiphol Airport from your room.
In the garden of the hotel there is a real Boeing 747 which you can also take a look inside. Corendon Village Hotel is a 10 minute drive from Schiphol Airport and with the shuttle you are in the heart of Amsterdam in no time.
Not only is this hotel fun for children, the location is also great! It is close to two very nice museums: Corpus and Naturalis.
You can choose a family room with 2 king-size beds. After a day visiting museums you can splash around in the pool or your young one can play in the kids club.
The Guesthouse Hotel is a wonderful accommodation, only 5 a minutes’ walk from the Efteling!
The hotel is really designed for families with (young) children. You can book family rooms with bunk beds, there is a large terrace with all kinds of play equipment and also breakfast and dinner is kids proof!
Staying in a hostel with kids? Definitely! Hostels are no longer just for backpackers, more and more families see the advantages: the prices are good and you can always cook your own meal.
Stayokay Domburg is located in a 13th century castle. You can choose a 4-person bedroom with private bathroom. The hostel has a cozy bar, a bicycle rental and is located close to the beach, the dunes and the forest.
