Our USA with kids RV roadtrip continues….
As the kids have some trouble with the jetlag, we wake up in another Ā “sleep combination” than we went to sleep in. Half way through the night the sneaky bastards climb into our bed. As it isn’t that big, Kev moves to Floris his (way smaller) bed, sleeping with his legs hanging out of the bed.
Waking up early gives us the chance to leave for our next destination early as well: Cheyenne. Cheyenne is the capital of Wyoming, having lots of history and old, beautiful buildings. After one short stop, we already reach Cheyenne. As I haven’t been able to post any blogs on Kids Love Travel, due to the lack of (good) wifi on the campgrounds, we decide to have a break at the McDonalds (always free wifi). This gives the kids some time to run around and play as well.
The kids are enjoying themselves big time, giving me time as well to check out all the hotspots of Cheyenne. We would love to visit State Capitol, unfortunately I read this building is being renovated and not accessible. This being our nbr 1 to do in Cheyenne and the fact that we find out the city isn’t that 30ft RV friendly (which city is?! š ), we decide to make some extra miles towards Custer State Park.
This adventurous decision leaves us “campgroundless” for tonight, we need to find some place to stay on the road. Luckily for us there is Lingle, Lingle? Yes Lingle! A small town (750 inhabitants) between Cheyenne and Custer State Park. We find a campground behind a very friendly lady her house. While checking in the lady forgets to tells us, there is a train passing every 15mins, 24/7. No problem, nevertheless it honks 4 times (!!) every time it passes.
When driving into Lingle we see a small park with a little pool. As the temperature is getting higher and higher we decide to pay the pool and the playground a small visit. The kids love it!! Exhausted they fall asleep at night. I seem to be the only one to have some trouble with the combination of a good night sleep and the honking train. Ah well, you have to make some sacrifices on your amazing RV roadtrip in the USA with kids ;).
Tips & TricksĀ USA with kids
If you need WiFi, McDonald’s is your best friend, they have free wifi in all of their USA restaurants.
Make sure you plan a little break after every 2-2.5 hour of driving. For yourself and of course it gives the kids a moment to stretch their legs as well.
If you want to visit CheyenneĀ . Make sure you park the RV outside the city center and take a taxi/ public transport, It’s a beautiful city with lots of history, shame when you have to miss out like we did. This tip comes in handy for all big cities when you are driving an RV.
