Our RV roadtrip through the USA with kids, continues…
As we woke up so early, we have plenty of time to visit the Wallmart for some groceries (only the ones that don’t need a refrigerator). The taxi takes us there. All Walmarts are open 24/7, I love it! When we arrive around 0700AM its not even that quiet. Our pick up for the RV is scheduled at 1300PM. Therefore we have time for a swim after our grocery shopping. Right before we take off for the pool, Kevin’s phone seems missing. He left it at the table during breakfast. Unfortunately the phone is gone..stolen. We need to go to the police and block the phone….bummer.
0100PM sharp, the pick up arrives. When we arrive, there are 2 groups before us. Finally, at 0400PM we are ready to go! Again a little stop at the Wallmart to stack up on fresh food. Right before we want to take off for our big adventure, I find out we are missing half of our bed linen. Back to the pick up point again. All in all we are really on our way around 0500PM. Our first campground is right next to the entrance of Rocky Mountains NP. We arrive at 0730PM. The view is stunning!!! From our RV we see the mountains, with even snow on the high peaks.
Wow this was a really long day! Finally it’s time for a well deserved beer, while enjoying our all American bbq and the stunning views of course. What an amazing day of our first USA with kids holiday. Tomorrow we will explore Rocky Mountains NP, can’t wait!
And… we brought our TomTom Bandit action cam, we will post videos of our trip here.
Tips & Tricks USA with kids
Before you make a reservation for a RV; check if there is space for children car seats. We needed 2 car seats, there were only 2 RV rentals suitable.
Try to make a reservation for the car seats, while booking, as Well. Doesn’t your rental company offer car seats? Take them with you (if you are living in the USA) or buy them online ( Wallmart) and have them delivered To your rental location (our European carseats arent compatible with lapbelts only).
The IPad is your best friend for very long waits (like we had at the pick up), and of course for long stretches in the RV.
Don’t forget to check your bath- and bed linen, before you take off.
