We\u2019ve been on an amazing camper trip through Florida, The Sunshine State. Florida is a wonderful destination for kids, there\u2019s loads to do!! To make sure you keep seeing the wood through the trees, I\u2019m sharing a top 10 things to do in Florida with kids with you!<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Disney World<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Who doesn\u2019t just love Disney?! Our kids are huge fans of Mickey, Minnie, Elsa, Anna, Buzz and pretty much all the Disney characters. Disney World truly is a \u201cworld\u201d. You\u2019ll discover multiple parks here, lots of hotels and even a Disney camping. The camping is truly recommended when you visit Disney World with a camper. All in all a well deserved place for Disney World in our Top 20 Things to do in Florida.<\/p>\n

      Kennedy Space Center<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I had my doubts whether Kennedy Space Center would be fun for our kids (2 and 4 years old) but I was proven very wrong. Floris had his picture taken with an astronaut, the \u201cRocket Garden\u201d was a hit and Atlantis was very interesting too. They even have an indoor playground so if your kids need to blow off a little steam, no problem\u00a0?<\/p>\n

        Everglades Air Boat<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        When you visit the Everglades you surely must take this spectacular trip. You get on a boat with a huge propeller mounted on the back. Because of the propeller you seemingly \u201cfloat\u201d across the water. The Everglades landscape really is something special, and so is the wildlife! The kids got really excited when they saw their first crocodile.<\/p>\n

        1. Feeding Tarpons<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Feeding what now?! Tarpons! Huge fish that can easily grow up to 1-1,5 metres. On one of the Florida Keys, Islamorada, you\u2019ll find Robbie\u2019s. At Robbie\u2019s you can buy a bucket of fish and when you walk into the harbor you can feed the Tarpons from the pier. Be careful, these fish have sharp rows of teeth.<\/p>\n

            Universal Studios<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            During our trip we had to skip Universal Studios because we didn\u2019t have time unfortunately. Also, there isn\u2019t that much to do for little kids. If they would have been any older we\u2019d be sure to have made some time available in our travel schedule. Apparently the Harry Potter ride is something else!<\/p>\n

              Shelling at Sanibel<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              \u201cShelling\u201d is the English term for collecting shells. Sanibel Island (on the West Coast of Florida) is known as one of the best shelling spots in the world. At the visitor center you can get a free booklet with all the types of shells in it. We combed the beaches with a net and a bucket. Floris and Lotte absolutely adored this and let\u2019s be honest a free thing to do in Florida is a welcome addition to this \u201cTop 20 things to do in Florida\u201d list as well.<\/p>\n

                Spotting dolphins and sea cows<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                When we were on Sanibel Island we went on a boat ride to Tarpon Bay. A large part of this area is protected. Aside from all kinds of birds you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins or sea cows. We were really lucky and saw both. I especially thought the sea cows were rather impressive. Lotte and Floris were impressed too when they stuck their large snouts out of the water.<\/p>\n

                  Beaches of Miami\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  Miami has beautiful beaches! Floris and Lotte loved Miami South Beach and Key Biscayne Beach. South Beach has beautiful white sands but a rather rough surf. The kids were especially happy with all the playgrounds behind the beach. Key Biscayne has less surf and is located in a kind of park where you can sit, have a barbecue, rent a bike and where you can find playgrounds.<\/p>\n

                    Sea Life<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    You could in fact spend a whole two weeks visiting all the parks in Orlando. We didn\u2019t get a chance to visit Sea Life because we were in Orlando for just a short period of time and wanted to spend more than 1 day in Disney. But if you have the time, Sea Life is definitely worth a visit! You get to see more than 5000 sea creatures.<\/p>\n

                      Turtle hospital<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      You can find this hospital on Marathon, one of the Florida Keys. You can take a tour and see how the wounded and exhausted turtles are being helped. The goal is to set them free again when they\u2019re better. Not just a fun trip but rewarding too because you support the turtles with your visit.<\/p>\n

                        Key West Trolley<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        When you visit Key West, the hop-on-hop-off trolley is a great way to get around and explore the city. Floris and Lotte sat down and watched Key West pass them by. You can get off at multiple locations, go for a stroll, grab an ice-cream or have a taste of the Key Lime Pie and hop back on and continue the trip.<\/p>\n

                          Legoland<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          Did you know there is a Legoland in Florida? Here you will find all kinds of stuff to do for younger and older kids. There\u2019s even a large Legoland hotel, so 24\/7 fun.<\/p>\n

                            Daytona International Speedway<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                            Be sure to visit this race track if your kids are crazy about cars and racing. You can attend a race of course but you can book all kinds of tours too. Check the event calendar and the availability of the tours before you plan your visit so you\u2019re sure to get the most out of your day.<\/p>\n

                              Venetian Pool\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                              In the middle of Miami you will find this special \u201cpool\u201d. It\u2019s an historic complex with a wonderful lagoon you can swim in. Unfortunately we discovered you\u2019re only allowed in from 3 years of age (and Lotte was 2 years old and 11 months). But when the kids are 3+ it\u2019s definitely recommended.<\/p>\n

                                Busch Gardens\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                Amusement Park meets zoo, that\u2019s Busch Gardens in Tampa. This is a wonderful destination for kids of all ages. You can get your adrenaline rush from one of the rollercoasters, watch animals or attend a show, everything is possible.<\/p>\n

                                  Miami Children\u2019s Museum<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                  You\u2019ll find this special museum in Miami. Kids can do all sorts of stuff such as crafting, interactive games and lots more. So no \u2018looking and no touching\u2019 but getting busy!<\/p>\n

                                    This is the largest water park in Florida and is found in Cape Coral. Stuff to do here for all ages. From babies that want to splash in the paddle pool with mommy and daddy to older kids who can soar down the spectacular water slides.<\/p>\n

                                      Wynwood Walls\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                      Wynwood is a special piece of Miami and should definitely be on your list of things to do in Florida. It\u2019s raw, urban and you will find the Wynwood Walls; next level street art. In this secluded part of Wynwood you walk through and past warehouses that are transformed into pieces of art by amazing paintings. Floris had a blast, he wanted his picture taken with every painting.<\/p>\n

                                        Miami Zoo<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                        I\u2019m not a big fan of zoo\u2019s (I\u2019d rather see animals in the wild), but most kids (like ours) love them, so they\u2019ll sure be grateful for a visit to Miami Zoo.<\/p>\n

                                          Diamond D horse stables<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                          The last tip on our list of things to do in Florida! On this ranch in Jacksonville (little) cowboys and cowgirls can have the time of their lives. They can go for a short ride on a pony, a long ride on a horse or travel by horse and caravan even. So lots of stuff to do with horses. This activity is the last one on our list of\u00a0 things to do in Florida.<\/p>\n
