Top 10 child friendly campgrounds in Florida<\/strong><\/h3>\n\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n1#\u00a0<\/b>Key West KOA, Sugarloaf Key<\/b><\/a>\u00a0*<\/b><\/b><\/h4>\n\u00a0When you enter this campsite you\u2019re greeted by a pirate. We had a terrific spot just opposite a playground (a pirate ship). As soon as the camper came to a halt the kids jumped out and blew off steam there. We stayed here for a couple of days and enjoyed our time very much! We relaxed at the beach, Kev went fishing (with fishing gear rented on the campsite), we went swimming in the pool and we rented go-karts for Floris and Lotte to race around in. The campsite is about a 30 minute drive from the center of Key West. You can take the camper of course (be aware you\u2019re not allowed to park everywhere) or you can take the bus. You can book a hotel when you visit\u00a0Disney World with kids<\/a>\u00a0of course but when you\u2019re travelling by camper it\u2019s far more fun and more practical booking a stay on this Disney campsite. It may be quite expensive but you certainly get a lot in return. First thing I noticed when we arrived on the campsite is how unbelievably large it was! It\u2019s really too big to walk everywhere so they have two solutions: busses that take you across the whole campsite and golf karts you can rent and race about in.<\/p>\nAfter a long day of driving in the camper Lotte went to bed early on our first evening. Flo was in for a treat! There was a campfire singalong with a guest appearance of the one and only Chip and Dale. After singing multiple songs and shaking hands with the two friendly squirrels there was a movie for Floris to watch on a big screen while having roasted marshmallows and popcorn under the starry sky. This may have been Floris\u2019s best night ever.<\/p>\n
You stay at this campsite to visit the Disney Parks of course but if you want to stay at the campsite itself for a day there is enough to do. There is a magnificent pool with a fun secluded paddling pool, you can go horseback riding, dine with entertainment and there is a lovely playground. And oh that\u2019s right, the boat taxi to Magic Kingdom comes in rather handy too. You get off just in front of the entrance and the view is spectacular at night! It\u2019s only a 15 minute drive from the parks and it offers lots of facilities for the kids! They have a playground, an inflatable bouncer and a lovely pool. We had a luxurious camp spot with a wooden swing, table, chairs and even a BBQ. The Mickey Mouse shaped lamps created just the right (Disney) atmosphere. Looking for another day trip rather than the parks? It’s also close to Makinson Island Park which is one of the most beautiful state parks in Florida<\/a>. The campsite has lots of green and has a little zoo too. You can spot all types of water birds in the large pond, parrots in their cages and even some little monkeys. The campsite is set up rather spacious so Floris was able to ride around on his rented bike. This campsite lies next to a zoo which you can visit with a discount when you stay there of course. We skipped the zoo but the camping is a lot of fun! Here they have multiple sports fields too, a playground and a pool to take a refreshing dip in.<\/p>\n

With 35+ degrees on the thermometer we decided to cancel our stay and drive a little further to the Miami Everglades RV Resort. A shame really because this campsite is well known for its special slides that end up in a refreshing pool.<\/p>\n
